February 2010
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bossiney House Hotel. The main house apparently dates back to 1897 and is located at the north end of Tintagel, probably about 5 mins walk only into the centre of it. It has ample parking space and a great big garden for children to run around in and also gives it a great sense of space and view.
The owners and staff could not have been more helpful to us. They were friendly and polite and made us and our children feel very welcome and accommodated. They were great on where to go and how to get there e.g. how close you could park to the Castle, the best beaches to go to and even the best times (re tides) to get there at.
Our family room was right at the top of the house in the old servants quarter and was very comfortable, beautifully presented and clean with nothing tatty or tired about it at all. The piece de resistance was the room within our room where the children stayed - 4 stairs led up to a half-ish door behind which was a room with 2 single beds, chest of drawers,a little wardrobe, a toy cot and an old fashionsed wooden rocking cot that could house a baby. Our kids (aged 3 and 4) almost exploded with excitement when they saw their own 'little house'. The beams in the room are low enough in places that even children have to be careful but it was fine and a delight (it is fine for older kids or even adults too).
The breakfast was served between a very reasonable 8am and 9.30am and was wonderfully comprehensive, from fruit salads, to croissants, to cereals, yogurts, toast, tea, coffee, juices, and all the elements of a great fried breakfast. The service was excellent too.
Our children loved 'Angus' the dog who despite being very tall was very docile and great with them too. We had the pool to ourselves one evening which again the children loved. The pool is situated in a chalet in the garden which also has a small sauna, shower and dressing room.
We would, without hesitation, revisit this place and recommend it to our friends also. Our thanks to Mick, Mary, Douglas, James & Tina (& Angus) for a lovely stay. |
