The hotel overlooks the dramatic coastline of the Atlantic Ocean which is easily accessible from the hotel.  The nearby renowned beach of Bossiney Haven displays a pristine sandy beach at low tide with amazing caves and scenic waterfalls.  The beach is dog-friendly and a well-kept secret to surfers from across Britain.

Local pleasures include golf, horse-riding, sea-fishing, the cycle path on the banks of the Camel river, as well as innumerable opportunities to find great pubs for lunches and evenings and some of the best scenery in the UK.

Tintagel is steeped in Arthurian legend.  It is believed to have been the birthplace in the late fifth century of King Arthur himself.  Some of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table are reputed to have been buried in the Bossiney Mound situated close to the Bossiney House Hotel.  Merlin the Magician and King Uther Pendragon were also closely associated with Tintagel which has also been used as a setting for the Arthurian legend in the writings of Tennyson and Hardy.  This is an area of many myths and legends focused around King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and also upon the spiritual and supernatural happenings reported in medieval literature, including the legend of Sir Galahad and the Quest for the Holy Grail.

Nearby Slaughter Bridge is a known battlefield and is believed to have been the location of King Arthur's final battle.  Dozmary Pool is reputed to be the location where the magical sword 'Excalibur' disappeared.  St Nectan's Glen is said to be imbued with the spirits of the Knights of the Round Table.

When Richard, the Earl of Cornwall and brother of King Henry III, acquired Bossiney Manor in 1233 it included the dark-age stronghold of 'Din Tagell' (Tintagel) and, building upon the literary tales of heroism and chivalry previously associated with the stronghold, he established the present Tintagel Castle on the headland.

Bossiney itself has a well-documented history.  This ancient community was once of significant importance in the region.  Bronze age settlements were a feature of this beautiful and rugged landscape.  Bossiney evolved into a garrison settlement and by the sixth century AD had its own mott and bailey fortress which is located opposite the Bossiney House Hotel.  The area was once owned by the Black Knight and later became one of the notorious "rotten boroughs" that sent two members of Parliament to London whilst oftentime having only twelve qualified voters.  One of these members of Parliament was the famed Sir Francis Drake, who made his inaugural speech from the top of Bossiney Mound.  Bristol merchants brought their slaves for sale at Bossiney.  Today, Bossiney is a charming, sleepy hamlet on the outskirts of Tintagel with wonderful views, fabulous cliff walks, a beautiful beach, and ideally placed to visit many attractions.  A few minutes walk from Tintagel Castle, Merlin's Cave, St Nectan's Glen with its impressive waterfall and strange legend, labrynth carvings at the ruined mill in Rocky Valley, all beckon and are well worth exploring.
